Reviews
The Globe and Traveller (July 23, 1831): 3.
Miss MASSON’S Concert, which took place last night at the Countess of Tankerville’s residence, Grosvenor-square. The performances were most fashionably attended. Braham, Madame Stockhausen, and Madame Pasta, were the chief attractions in the vocal department; while Nicholson, Puzzi, Moscheles, and Jules Regondi, varied, each on their respective instruments—flute, horn, piano, and guitar—the delightful harmonies of the entertainment.

MISS MASSON’S CONCERT.
Miss MASSON’S Concert, which took place last night at the residence of the Countess of TANKERVILLE in Grosvenor-square, was honoured by a very numerous assemblage of rank and fashion. PASTA, of course, lent her valuable aid on the occasion, and sang a duet with her pupil, who acquitted herself in this, as well as in her other airs, in highly creditable style. Among the most striking features were the delightful singing of BRAHAM and of Madame STOCKHAUSEN, who was encored in her Swiss air. A similar compliment was justly paid to PARRY, jun., who sang, accompanied by himself on the harp, a new ballad entitled They have given thee to another. The taste and feeling displayed by the singer were equal in effect to his popular Maid of Llangollen. DE BEGNIS, who sang in the duet of Se fiato, displayed his fine power of voice and comic humour to great advantage. The instrumental portion of the Concert was of the highest order, boasting the attractions of NICHOLSON’S flute, PUZZI’S horn, the piano of MOSCHELES, and the guitar of JULES REGONDI.

MISS MASSON’S,
At the Mansion of the Countess of Tankerville, Grosvenor
Square, Friday, July 22nd. Guinea tickets.A highly fashionable company was assembled on this occasion, Miss Masson being very warmly patronized by the haut ton. Mesdames Pasta and Stockhausen, Mr. Braham, Mr. Horncastle, Mr. Parry jun., assisted in the vocal department; also Mad. Vigano, who possesses a rich contralto voice, and sings in a most impassioned manner; and Signor Vaccaj, the composer, who possesses a powerful tenor voice. Mr. Moscheles exhibited his fine talents on the piano-forte, and Puzzi on the horn. Giulio Regondi, too, performed to the delight and astonishment of all present: so much did this interesting child please, that he was a second time placed on the piano-forte, and again elicited the applause of the whole room. A Signor Berrettoni, a buffo base, sung [sic], with De Begnis, the fine but hacknied duet from the Matrimonio Segreto. Miss Masson, whom we ought first to have mentioned, of course performed several times: her duet with her friend, and we believe her instructress, Mad. Pasta, was most charming. Mozart’s lovely ‘Sul’ aria’ was never heard to greater advantage. Mr. F. Cramer led, and Sir G. Smart conducted.
