MR. MORI’S Concert, which deservedly has the reputation of being the best during the season, as usual presents an assemblage of talent not to be surpassed. He has selected for his own performance a splendid Concerto by RODE, and our favourite old national air of the Plaughboy as a Fantasia. We sincerely hope our talented countryman will as usual be rewarded by a bumper.
Reviews
The Morning Post (June 3, 1826): 3.
MORI had a bumper, At the Argyll Rooms, last night. Vestris was encored in “ I’ve been roaming,” as was the charming and interesting PASTA, in “Ombra adorata.”—LINDLEY, PUZZI, MOSCHELLES, and FURSTENAU, all combined to delight the audience; and MORI’S own performance was at once astonishing and most charming.
An apology on the score of increased indisposition was made in the bill, for WEBER, who was to have presided at the, performance of his own Overture; and Sir G. SMART had occasion to address the audience on behalf of Miss PATON, who had sent a letter excusing herself from a similar regretful cause. As a substitution for her announced songs, an Italian duet was sung by Mademoiselle D’ANVERS and Signor BEGREZ. The Overture to Der Freischutz concluded the entertainment, and was performed in admirable style.

MORI’S GRAND CONCERT
(FURTHER PARTICULARS.)
With the exception of the Royal Society of Musicians’ Concert, on Wednesday next, and the New Musical Fund’s on the Wednesday following, we may consider Mr. MORI’S Benefit as the last of the season; and a most glorious one it proved for him, for the Argyll Rooms were crowded on Friday evening; even the Orchestra was thronged with elegantly dressed Ladies.
The performance commenced with WEBER’S Grand Jubilee Overture, at the conclusion of which our National Anthem i-introduced [sic], which the audience no sooner heard, than, with a patriotic and loyal feeling which reflects credit on them, they arose in a body. The effect was truly gratifying to all those who love The land they live in.
MORI stepped forward to perform a Concerto, by RODE, for the first time in public. He was heartily welcomed, and he went through his arduous task in a manner that will add to his already well-earned fame. When he had finished, it was gratifying to behold his fellow labourer, in the Orchestra testifying their approbation by striking their bows, &c. against their instruments.
After BEETHOVEN’S fine Symphony in D. the melliduous [sic] STEPHENS enchanted the Company with her Donald. She, Mr. VAUGHAN, and Mr. PHILLIPS, sung KNYVITT’T [sic] beautiful Glee of There is a bloom, charmingly. PHILLIPS sung a Ballad in a most chaste manner.
MOSCHELES performed his Fall of Paris with his accustomed power. The effect of the Bass Drum and Cymbals in the tutti parts was exceedingly good. We are always glad to hear MORI’S “Flaxen-headed Plow-boy whistling o’er the lea.”
The Harmonicon, vol. IV (July 1826): 153.
Mr. MORI’S,—Friday, June 2nd, at the Argyll Rooms. This was a good selection, performed by nearly all the foreign singers, together with Miss Stephens and Mr. Vaugham [sic]. M. Fürstenau, Mr. Moscheles, Mr. Lindley, and Mr. Mori executed various pieces with good effect, and the room was literally crowded with company.
