Reviews
The Courier (April 14, 1826): 4.
LINDLEY’S CONCERT, ARGYLL ROOMS.— In spite of the various other attractions of yesterday evening, Lindley had a very numerous and most elegant attendance, and the whole of the Performance gave the highest satisfaction. The whole Concerto on the Violoncello was truly a matchless performance, and duly appreciate by the company. Sapio sung the grand scena from Freischutz, which he gave with such distinguished applause at the last Philharmonic Concert, when Weber presided. Moscheles performed an extempore Fantasia on the Pianoforte, with his wonted fire, taste, and wonderful execution, Knyvett, Hawes, Welsh, &c. did ample justice to the vocal pieces. Braham introduced “Mary,” decorated with some tasteful ornamental accompaniments on the Pianoforte, with great feeling and effect, Nicholson performed a Concerto on the Flute, in a masterly manner, displaying not only the most rapid and articulate execution, but producing a rich volume of tone, surpassing all competitors. Kiesewetter and Lindley gave a double concerto, and delighted the company by their brilliant talents. Miss Binfield played a fantasia on the Harp, in a very superior manner.

LINDLEY’S CONCERT—ARGYLL ROOMS.
In despite of the various other attractions of yesterday evening, LINDLEY had a very numerous and most elegant attendance, and the whole of the Performance gave the highest satisfaction. The Concerto on the Violoncello was truly a matchless performance, and duly appreciated by the company. SAPIO sung the grand scena from Frieschutz, which he gave with such distinguished applause at the last Philharmonic Concert, when WEBER presided. MOSCHELES performed an extempore Fantasia on the Pianoforte, with his wonted fire, taste, and wonderful execution.—Miss STEPHENS, Miss GOODALL, Miss BETTS, Madame CARADORI, KNYVETT, HAWES, WELSH, &c. did ample justice to the vocal pieces. BRAHAM introduced “Mary,” decorated with some tasteful ornamental accompaniments on the Pianoforte, with infinite feeling and effect. Nicholson performed a Concerto on the Flute, in a masterly manner, displaying not only the most rapid and articulate execution, but producing a rich volume of tone, surpassing all competitors. KIESEWETTER and LINDLEY gave a double concerto, and both quite enraptured the company by their brilliant talents.
Miss BINFIELD played a fantasia on the Harp, in a very superior manner. SPAGNOLETTI led one of the finest Bands we ever heard, consisting of the most eminent performers in each department that the country could produce. Sir G. SMART was at his post as usual.
