MOSCHELES.
This celebrated composed and performer, is expected to arrive shortly in this city. It will be his first visit to Ireland, which he makes, we understand, with the intention of giving some Concerts early in January. We congratulate our fellow-citizens on the opportunity that will be thus afforded them of hearing the performance of a man who is so highly celebrated and honoured in his profession, and whose name certainly stands in the first rank.
—Moscheles has been justly famed at the Philharmonic Society in London, and is Professor to the Academies of Music at London, Paris, and Sweden. The extraordinary power, taste, and elegance of his performance on the Piano forte has naturally obtained universal applause, and we know of no city where he would be so likely to meet a just tribute to his great talents as in Dublin.

Saunders’s News-Letter (January 13, 1826): 2.[1]
We have much pleasure in referring our readers to [*] advertisement announcing Mr. Moscheles’ Concert at [*] Rotunda, this evening. We have had opportunity of appreciating Mr. Moscheles’ spending abilities, and can assure the public that such an opportunity of [*]nessing the most singular combination of musical talent and genius was never presented to the people of Dublin before. We know not how long this gentleman’s professional engagements will enable him to remain in this City; but we suspect his numerous avocations, and exclusive connexion [sic] in other countries, may prevent the [*] ability of his remaining long amongst us. To the lover [*] intellectual beauty—to the admirers of the science of [*]aic, amplified into its most minute and astonishing ra[*]cations, we should therefore say—lose not a moment [*] availing yourselves of the treat that is offered you.
Amongst the testimonies to Mr. Moscheles’ distinguished powers, we can state that he attended the Lord Gentleman’s party at the Viccregal Lodge, on Monday evening where the most flattering compliments were paid to [*] exquisite skill by their Excellencies, and their noble visitors.

Reviews
Dublin Evening Post (January 14, 1826): 3.
MR. MOSCHELES CONCERT.—The first Concert of Mr. Moscheles took place last evening, at the Rotunda. The interest excited by the fame of this Gentleman’s talents attracted a numerous and fashionable attendance.—Mr. M.’s command of the instrument is truly astonishing, whether considering in relation to force, delicacy, or rapidity. As Catalani, in vocal art, bursts through all the fetters commonly imposed, so, Mr. M. appears to disdain (because he is thoroughly acquainted with) technical rules.—The most extraordinary part of Mr. M.’s playing is, perhaps, the velocity and the certainty with which he passes from one distant interval to another. His thumbs seem to act as intermedia points, from which his fingers are directed, almost to the most remote parts of the instrument, over which they fly with a rapidity wholly inconceivable; yet the uniformity of touch and tone are so strictly preserved, that an imperfect is never, and an unfinished note is seldom, heard. Every great player has his forte, and in this species of execution Mr. M. is unrivalled.
Mr. and Miss Ashe contributed their powerful aid. Mrs. Hadyn Corri, in Rosini’s di Piacer, obtained considerable applause.

ROTUNDA CONCERT.
MR. MOSCHELES.
This celebrated perform gave his First Concert in this city last night—it was attended by all the wealth and rank of the metropolis. In fact we have not, for some time, beheld a more fashionable or numerous assemblage. The performance of Monsieur Moscheles, was, of course, the peculiar novelty of the night; his execution is singularly expressive, delicate and effective. The extemporaneous Fantasia in the second act, in which he introduced “The last Rose of Summer” and “Garyowen,” called forth the most decisive and merited applause—an encore was demanded principally by the ladies present. Mr. Moscheles re-appeared, and gave another delightful extemporaneous specimen of his very singular abilities in a manner really unequalled. The delightful air of “Roy’s Wife,” a duet by Mrs. and Miss Ashe, met with the highest approbation. Monsieur Moscheles is sure to command, at his next Concert, a similarly fashionable and crowded attendance.
